Airflow – dental hygiene revisited

Emerging technology is transforming all areas of life and dentistry is no exception. The innovative Airflow technique uses a machine that cleans and polishes the teeth with a mix of water, compressed air and fine powder particles. This method is better than traditional cleaning methods that use scraping tools and polishing discs and which can be time-consuming and potentially painful for the patient.

At Dental FX, we are committed to good oral hygiene and Airflow technology enables us to ensure that your teeth are healthy and sparkly clean. Our dedicated team of dentists and dental hygienists will make you feel comfortable every step of the way and will clean your teeth thoroughly. They can also give you advice on gum health, oral care at home and can show you how to brush and floss your teeth properly.

Airflow in GlasgowWhat is Airflow?

In Glasgow, Airflow treatment is designed to remove simple tooth staining from the teeth. Although this treatment is not a tooth whitening therapy, the Airflow will significantly improve the colour of your teeth and give you a fresh smile.

This cleaning and polishing therapy works by the projection of tiny bicarbonate particles under water pressure onto the surface and in between each tooth. Treatment time rarely exceeds 20 minutes and by the end, your teeth will look and feel smoother, cleaner and brighter.

Airflow is a handy clean and polish tool, but it can also be a great alternative to more expensive whitening treatments for patients with surface discolouration. However, Airflow cannot replace your regular appointments to the hygienist and in some cases scaling may be involved in order to remove any hardened plaque from the teeth prior to the Airflow treatment.

How long will it last?

Treatment with Airflow is very effective and results can be lasting. However, this depends entirely on your diet, lifestyle and oral hygiene routine. If you consume tea, coffee, red wine and highly-pigmented foods and beverages on a daily basis, then you can expect the staining to return over a few months. If you rarely consume staining foods and drinks and you brush and floss your teeth diligently, then your teeth may remain bright for up to a year following treatment with Airflow.
